A long September long weekend for the Cannons, with 6 games on the schedule, 2 for each of our teams.
Division 1 had two games that followed an almost identical pattern. Bat first, bad start, Zeeshan Ansari and Anton Kruger rescue the innings with some brilliant hitting and we post a high score (182 and 207). Opposition come out blazing, we can never get the scoring rate under full control and they pass us in the last over in each game. Disappointing to not come away with at least one win after putting up totals like that, but the silver lining is that our rival for 3rd place also lost both their games, and we remain just ahead of them on Net Run Rate.
Despite the loss, we must highlight some fine individual efforts. After hitting an unbeaten 63 off 35 on Sunday, Zee went even better on Monday with 66* off only 21 balls, setting a new club record for fastest fifty (18 balls). His partner in crime, Anton, followed 35 off 28 on Sunday with his maiden fifty on Sunday, a 37 ball unbeaten 56.

Division 2, missing some key guys through work commitments, played Titans on Friday and couldn't slow their scoring on a consistent basis, conceding 165. We gave the chase our best shot but ended 11 runs short. We bounced against an undermanned Avengers lineup, posting 154 again with the bat, and then knocking them over for only 73.
The opening combination of Nisarg Patel (28 off 18 and 34 off 27) and Andrew Irving (20 off 9 and 32 of 26) got the team off to flyers in both games, with Hiren Patel and Jawad Naimat doing their best in the chase against Titans. With the ball, Ajay Deb made a good comeback from injury with 3 wickets, before Hiren capped off a good weekend with 3/5 against Avengers.

Division 3 chased in both their games, and fell just short in each, losing by 19 runs to Avengers and 16 runs to Titans. Jawad, just like he did in Div 2, gave it everything in the chases scoring quickfire 30s in both games, but he would not have enough support. On the bowling front, Hiren had another 3 wicket haul against Avengers. And after Titans reached 0/105 after 14 overs, Gurpreet Sidhu and Rajesh Suhagiya bowled superb spells taking 3 wickets each to restrict Titans to 6/139 off their 20 overs.
Fortunately for our Div 3 team, despite losing their 2 games, they actually jumped from 4th to the all important 3rd position as East Coast suffered big losses, and the two teams will play each other in the next (and final) league game of the season to determine who makes the semi final.
