Weekend Recap May 24-25, 2025

Saturday

Division 3 vs East Coast CC - Harish won the toss and elected to bowl first. Anbarasu Vijayan (0/12 off 4) and Arun Kuriakose (1/12 off 4) bowled very tightly in the powerplay. The pressure that was applied by them resulted in 3 run outs within the first 10 overs. In the back end of the innings, Paras Kumar (2/23 off 3.1) and Harish (3/18 off 4) continued the good work, as East Coast were bundled out for 87 off 19.1 overs.

We lost an early wicket, upon which Ravi Kiran Revu (25 off 25) and Shubham Dave (29 off 40) combined to take us a long way to the target. After their dismissals, our skipper Harish (11* off 13) capped off a player of the match performance to guide us home with 7 wickets and 31 balls to spare. A great first win of the season, and first win as captain for Harish. Scorecard

Division 2 vs East Coast CC - sent in to bat in tough scoring conditions, Nisarg Patel (64 off 61) was a one man band, playing a great innings balancing attack and defense as we tried to scrape to a defendable total of 107 all out off 20. This was Nisarg's first half century in Div 2, and given the conditions and game situation, was worth even more.

East Coast CC were steady in their chase, not losing a wicket until the introduction of spin in the 7th over. Leggies Nihar Shah (2/18 off 4) and Kevin Tuvar (2/22 off 4) gave us chance through the middle, but we just didn't have enough runs to play with as they passedus with 6 wickets and 14 balls to spare. Scorecard

Division 1 vs Scotia Strikers CC - Batting first after winning the toss, opening pair Fenil Patel (60 off 50) and Antony Roche (37 off 36) put on our highest ever Div 1 opening partnership of 100 in 13.5 overs to set our innings up nicely. We weren't able to fully accelerate from this, but still ended up posting a strong 4/144 off our 20.

Strikers got off to a quick start and were ahead of the required rate for much of their innings. Revant Sharan slowed the scoring conceding only 13 runs off his 4 overs while taking a wicket, before Hiren Patel turned the game bowling out their opener after he had hit 7 sixes, leaving Strikers with 39 needed from 32 with 6 wickets in hand. Shadab Ahmed took control of the game from here with 3 wickets in his second spell, and Ajay Kumar was able to close out the game conceding only 7 runs off the last over when they needed 12. Scorecard

Sunday

Division 4 and Division 3 both had their scheduled games abandoned on a wet day, where it was more suitable to be a duck rather than dismiss opposing batsmen for them.
