Division 3 vs NS Avengers CC - new skipper Harish Chandra won the toss and gave Avengers first crack with the bat. Tanmay Rajput struck early, but we struggled with accuracy and Avengers had reached 53 before we took our 2nd wicket on the last ball of the powerplay. Avengers batted well in tough batting conditions at Don Bayers, posting 7/139 off their 20. Kevin Tuvar was the pick of our bowlers with 2/15 off 4, with Harish, Tanmay, Ravi Kiran Revu and debutant Anbarasu Vijayan taking one each.
Our chase never got any momentum going, our lineup finding scoring on that pitch tough. Shubham Dave, playing his first game for the club since 2020, top scored with 21 off 27, as we only managed 88 all out off 17.5 overs to fall 51 runs short. Scorecard
Division 1 vs East Coast CC - a rematch of last year's Div 1 final to start off 2025, captain Zeeshan Ansari won the toss and elected to bat first. He would come into bat much earlier than he would have liked, at 4/29 in the 9th, but his 23 off 21 in combination with Jaideep Singh (26 n.o. off 26) gave the score some credibility. Ajay Kumar contributed an unbeaten 12 at the end to bump us up to 8/99 off 20.
What would normally be an easy chase was always going to be tougher being the first game of the season with a very slow Halifax Commons outfield, and East Coast found scoring even harder than we did. Shadab Ahmed was at his best up front, taking 3/7 off 4 overs, with great support from Ajay (1/6 off 3). Spinners Nihar Shah (1/7 off 3), Sagar Mandhan (2/13 off 2.5) and Zee (2/11 off 2) kept the squeeze on through the middle.
