2 losses and 2 washouts make for a disappointing long weekend for the Cannons. However it wasn't without highlights, as Priyank Trivedi took 5 wickets, including a hat trick, in the Div 1 game against Titans. This was the 3rd 5 wicket haul and only 2nd hat trick in club history.
Saturday's rain saw both Div 3 and Div 2 abandoned without a ball bowled. Clearer weather on Sunday saw Div 1 in action, and a great bowling performance restricted Titans to 127 all out in 19 overs. Anton Kruger (1/21 off 4) and Sagar Mandhan (2/15 off 4) bowled great at the start, and then Priyank cleaned up the lower order with 5/22 off his 3 overs. We had 7 batsmen reach double figures in the chase, but none surpassed 18, and we fell 15 runs short, all out 112 with 11 balls remaining. Scorecard
Div 2 got to play their 2nd scheduled game of the weekend, winning the toss and batting on Monday, but couldn't build any sustained momentum and only posted 135. Andrew Irving top scored with 30 at the top of the order and Saravana Kumar Chandran played a good knock at the end with a quickfire 26. East Coast's openers came out blazing and we didn't have the answers, only taking 2 wickets as they passed out score in 17 overs. Tushar Sehgal bowled a great spell conceding only 18 runs from his 4 overs while picking up one of the wickets, with Gurpreet Sidhu taking the other, a good outfield catch by Harman Singh. Scorecard
