Saturday
Division 3 vs Scotia Strikers CC - Batting first, opener Grant Whitcombe led the way hitting 54 from 46 balls. He received little support though, nobody else exceeding 14 as we struggled to put together the partnerships required to post a big total, ending up below par at 118 all out with a ball to spare.
Our bowlers tried hard, with Tanmay Rajput, Kevin Tuvar and Tommy Upton claiming a wicket apiece. However, a run out would be our only other success as Strikers eased past our score with 6 wickets and 18 balls to spare. Scorecard
Division 1 vs NS Avengers CC - After losing a wicket in the 3rd over, Arslan Khan was joined by surprise weapon Ajay Kumar and the two put on 67 before Ajay was out for an enterprising 32 off 24. Arslan carried on to post 61 from 55 balls, anchoring the innings before Zeeshan Ansari added 20 off 14 to help us to a very competitive 5/143 off our 20.
Our bowlers did a good job early defending the total, with Avengers 4/65 after 12 and needing 10 an over from here. Avengers middle and lower order showed their firepower though, and despite 2 wickets to Karanbir Singh (2/38 off 4) and Shadab Ahmed (2/27 off 4) claiming his 150th Cannons wicket with the scores tied, the target was reached with 3 wickets and 4 balls to spare. Sunday
Division 3 vs Hfx-Titans CC - the team was keen to bounce back after yesterday's loss, the latest in a 5 game streak. Bowling first, Tanmay (1/19 off 4) and Revant Sharan both struck early, via nicks through to keeper Saravana Kumar Chandran. Titans consolidated with a 69 run stand, but tight bowling ensured this was scored at just 6 an over. Revant returned with a double strike in the 16th over to finish with 3/19 off his 4, while skipper Tushar Sehgal took 2 of his own in the middle. A 20th over flourish would see Titans end at 8/129 off 20, with one bat contributing 73 of these on his own.
We would lose a wicket with the score on 1, but Ravi Kiran Revu hit a rapid 27 from 18 balls to get our chase ahead of target. Upon his dismissal with the score on 37, Saravana joined Andrew Irving and the two went about chasing the total down. They managed to do this comfortably in the end, Saravana (34* off 27) hitting the winning runs 34 off 27 with Andrew at the other end on 60 off 43. Game won with 8 wickets and 30 balls to spare to break the losing streak and keep playoff hopes alive. Scorecard
