Not often an undefeated weekend is a disappointment, but once again weather ruined the majority of our weekend, with all 3 teams getting washed out on Sunday after our Div 1 team had a convincing win on Friday evening over Nova Scotia Avengers Cricket Club.
Batting first, we again lost an early wicket, but Andrew Irving (46 off 37) and Priyank Shah (21 off 26) combined to put together 67 for the 2nd wicket. After their dismissals, Antony Roche (41 off 22), Daksh Talwar (18 off 13) and Satnam Singh (25* off only 9 balls) accelerated the innings to take us to a very competitive total of 8/177 off our 20 overs.
Shadab Ahmed took the new ball as usual and did what he always does, picking up 2 early wickets while conceding only 24 runs from his 4 over spell. No doubt he had a point to prove after being omitted from the provincial team despite being the best of our pace bowlers at last years Nationals. Satnam picked up his first wicket in Cannons colours at the other end, while also taking 2 catches. Daksh (2/20 off 4) also took 2 big wickets in the first half of the innings, as we never let them get anywhere close to the required rate.
We continued to set a high standard with the ball and in the field all the way through to the end, with Vikas Salaria picking up a wicket, and two each for skipper Sagar Mandan (2/20 off 3) and Priyank Trivedi, who finished with figures of 2 wickets for 1 run off 3 balls to bring a quick finish to the game.
