A much needed win from our Div 1 team was the highlight of our weekend, while our Div 3 team fought hard in their loss.
Starting the weekend one win behind their opponent Titans who held 3rd position, our Div 1 game shaped up as a must win. Batting first, we stumbled to 3/49 after 10. Antony Roche took the game over at this point, converting his 40 over form into the T20 format with a 34 ball innings of 64, with 6 sixes and 2 fours. He put on 69 for the 4th wicket with Daksh Talwar (33 off 24), who then joined with Zeeshan Ansari (16 off 10) for another quick partnership of 39 to take us to 6/157 off 20 - a score that looked out of reach halfway through.
Anton Kruger and Sagar Mandhan each picked up an early wicket, but Titans then built a partnership that threatened to take the game away. Anton returned to break the stand, and the Jaideep Singh removed their skipper shortly after and held his nerve through the death overs to deliver an 8 run win. Shadab Ahmed was also superb during this phase of the game, his 4 overs only conceding 13 runs while picking up a wicket. Big win for the guys who now draw level in 3rd place with 5 games to go.
Div 3 batted first in their game against Titans but struggled to put together a score. Only Arun Thampi got going at all, playing his best innings with 43 off 32 balls in the middle order, including 4 huge sixes. Unfortunately there was little else, and we only managed 110 all out in the 20th over.
The bowlers tried valiantly to defend the small total, but were only able to pick up 4 wickets as Titans chased well and passed us with 22 balls to spare. Gurpreet Sidhu was the pick of our bowlers with 2/19 off his 4 overs, Souvik Mitra and Abhilash Chandran picking up the others.
