3 big days of cricket coming up for the Cannons, starting with our first 40 over game of the season tomorrow on Canada Day, and then all 3 of our T20 teams playing across the weekend.
We've been able to name a strong 40 over teams to take on Avengers, with strong batting depth and lots of bowling options to manage across the longer format. Avengers just got over the line against is in the 40 Over Final last year, we'll be looking to reverse that, but both teams have undergone a bit of change since then.
Availability was good across the weekend for the 3 T20 teams, and therefore selectors have been able to name very strong sides for each. Div 3 get us started against East Coast on Saturday afternoon. The team had a weekend off last week, however many of the guys have played Div 2 since our last game. After a good start to the season in Div 2, Ahsan Hafeez makes his way back to Div 3 and will play a key role in the top order.
Div 2 also come up against East Coast, having beaten them just last Sunday. Saravana Kumar Chandran is back to take the gloves, and Revant Sharan and Hiren Patel slide back to the Div 2 bowling attack after a run in the Div 1 team. Otherwise, it is much the same team as last week, a strong lineup with all bases covered. The batting has been improving each game and the bowling attack has been consistently great, whether its our pace bowlers at the start or spin trio in the middle.
Our Div 1 team finish off our weekend on Sunday afternoon against Avengers, once again a rematch from last week. 6 changes from last week's team, as Arslan Khan returns behind the stumps, and the batting lineup is further bolstered by the returns of Zeeshan Ansari, Grant Whitcombe and Matt Webb. In the bowling attack, Ajay Deb and Tushar Sehgal come back in after missing a game each. The boys will be working hard for a win to really solidify their spot in the top half of the standings.
