Season 2022 is finally upon us, with the Halifax Cricket League starting this weekend.
Our Division 1 team, led by new captain Sagar Mandan, takes on Halifax Titans CC on Sunday afternoon. We have a new look Div 1 team in 2022 with Antony Roche, Arslan Khan and Rudy Audikesavalu all joining us from NS Avengers and adding skill and experience to our top order, with Arslan also taking on the key wicket keeping role. Priyank Trivedi and Ajay Deb have earned spots in the bowling attack, with the remainder of the team core players from last season. We look forward to seeing this mix of old and new develop winning ways in 2022.
Division 2 get us started on Saturday afternoon, with Dhruv Mohta's outfit playing NS Avengers CC in a rematch of 2021's final. There is a lot of continuity in the team to start 2022, but they are bolstered by four exciting new players - pace bowlers Revant Sharan and Gaganpreet Singh, leg spinner Nihar Shah and wicket-keeper batsman Saravana Kumar Chandran who also joined from Avengers and will come up against his old side first up. Ahsan Hafeez also gets a well deserved opportunity after a solid season with the bat last year in Div 3.
Division 3 is also up against Avengers, playing on Sunday morning. With skipper Souvik Mitra unavailable, Steve Smith will take the reins of a very promising line up. Brand new players Jawad Naimat, Harman Singh, Richard Upton and Tommy Upton will form the core of our bowling attack, while fellow debutants Subhankar Mitra and Hassan Hafeez will contribute to the batting lineup. These 6 new players will be joined by some club veterans.
