Fresh off a resounding semi final win the previous day, the Cannons were full of confidence entering the Div 2 Final. Winning the toss, Dhruv Mohta sent the Titans in to bat, and this looked to be the right call when we had them at 6/69 in the 11th.
Jaideep Singh struck first over, Revant Sharan and Kanwaljeet Singh also struck in their first spells. while Jeben Roach took 2 in this period. Hiren Patel was doing his usual thing, conceding only 9 runs in his 4 overs while adding a wicket of his own. As Titans are known to do, they had strong lower middle order batting and they bounced back, putting on 53 for the 7th wicket, unfortunately both batsmen getting lives early on. Revant came back and bowled well at the death taking 2 late wickets, while Kevin Tuvar should also be noted conceding only 16 runs in 3 overs at the death. Titans would end up at 8/142 off their 20.
An opening partnership of 21 would be our biggest, we never really got in the hunt in the chase as Titans bowled tightly. No batsman could get in and dominate to get us to the required rate, and as it grew and grew, our batsmen perished trying to lift the rate. All out for 80 in the 18th over. Scorecard
A disappointing end to a good season where the team played some fantastic cricket at times, especially with the ball. There was a great team spirit that held in wins and losses.
Congrats to Halifax Titans Cricket Club for their victory, they played great on the day and over the course of the entire season. They had a well balanced team who all played their roles well and had someone step up each game. They have set the Div 2 standard for us to reach and exceed.
