Division 1 vs Hfx-Titans CC - Shadab Ahmed (2/16 off 3) and Ajay Kumar set the tone early with the ball, taking 3 wickets between them in the first 4 overs. Titans innings then went from bad to worse, with a pair of runouts. Div 1 debutant quick Sheunopa Nelson (2/8 off 2) struck twice, followed by Fenil Patel striking against his old team. A 3rd runout of the inning saw Titans in all sorts of strife at 9/44 after 10. Their last pair put on 31 in just 3 overs, but Ajay (2/11 off 4) returned to end the innings at 75 off only 13 overs.
Fenil (28 off 22) and keeper Arslan Khan (34* off 46) ensured there would be no repeat of early season chasing dramas, knocking off the first 47 between them. We would lose 2 wickets, but a six by Daksh Talwar would finish the game with 8 wickets and 31 balls to spare. Cannons move to 4-0 in the Div 1 league. Scorecard
Division 2 vs Scotia Strikers CC - Batting first, our top order dug in but found scoring tough. Dhruv Mohta (27* off 36) showed promising signs before retiring with cramp in hot conditions, while Rudy Audikesavalu hit 25 off 28, passing the 1000 run milestone for Cannons in the process. We lacked the decisive knock though, and could only muster 7/115 off 20.
Two early wickets from Revant Sharan (2/21 off 4) gave us a sniff. Hiren Patel (1/20 off 4) would take our next wicket, but by the time we found further success, a run out, the game was all but done. Strikers reached the target with 6 wickets and 13 balls to spare. Scorecard
Division 3 vs Scotia Strikers CC - Bowling first after Strikers elected to use the willow first, Strikers started steadily despite the best efforts of Tanmay Rajput, who conceded only 12 runs from his 4 overs while picking up a wicket. Skipper Harish Chandra ended with the best figures of 3/26 off 4, with Ragu Ravichandran (2/30 off 4) our other wicket taker. From a promising position of 5/70 after 13.1, we let Strikers lower order off the hook in the last 7 overs as they reached 7/142 off 20.
Once again, our batting lineup struggled to score quickly at Don Bayers, with three of our top 4 reaching double figures but none exceeding 15 or a SR of 93. Mehak Babbar did find a way, hitting 36 off 25, including three 6s, to bring us back into the chase. However, his dismissal would end our chances, and we limped to 9/109 off our 20. Fortunately 9 of our next 10 games are at the Halifax Commons where we tend to find batting conditions more suited to us. Scorecard
