The prestigious Presidents Cup is awarded to the Clubman of the Year, for contributions to the club on and off field and best exemplifying the Cannons spirit.
This year it goes to Revant Sharan. Revant joined us back at the start of the year and initially made an impact at training, turning up to almost every single session and bowling a lot of balls to improve his own skillset as well as help the batsmen out. This paid dividends during the season as he picked up 11 wickets while conceding less than 7 runs an over, an impressive record given he primarily bowled in the powerplay or at the death. He quickly became a valued core member of our Div 2 team, while also getting the occasional chance in the top team. He didn't get too many opportunities with the bat, but made the most of it when he did, most notably when he guided us home in a nervy chase against Avengers with an unbeaten 22.
His on field contributions and the selfless and committed attitude he displayed at both training and in games were only part of his contribution. He was a regular presence at the Commons supporting our Div 1 and Div 3 teams. And he helped the club in a massive way by coordinating the sponsorship agreement between the club and his sister Mitali (WFG), which will be a long term benefit to the club.
Not one to rest on his laurels, Revant has stepped up to get involved in training coordination for the 2023 season. Always great to see players make such a large contribution to the club from the moment they arrive.
